Major infrastructure projects
Drafting and approval of the infrastructure project, which technically defines Madrid Nuevo Norte’s large-scale engineering works for public transport, urban connections, water and sewerage.

Some of these major infrastructures will be constructed at the expense of the land owners and form part of the urban development projects. These include covering the railway tracks, the new connections over the tracks and the M-30 ring road, or the replacement of the large pipelines of the Canal de Isabel II water supply infrastructure. On the other hand, the Public Administrations are directly responsible for certain major projects (Metro, Norte Junction, Fuencarral Junction, Chamartín Station).

November 2022 – We break ground on Madrid Nuevo Norte
We break ground with the construction of the first piers and piles at the rail yard south of the Madrid-Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station that will support the concrete slab on top of which Central Park will be built.

Signing of the agreement for the new Madrid Nuevo Norte metro line
On 2 July, the Madrid Regional Government and DCN sign the agreement to begin preliminary development of the new metro line that will service Madrid Nuevo Norte. The line, which departs from Chamartín station and includes three stops, will extend three kilometres in length and cater to a potential demand of 40,000 daily travellers.

Execution unit in Fuencarral
On 27 January, the Madrid City Council approved the creation of a single execution unit for the Malmea-San Roque-Tres Olivos project area, a step that will speed up the urban management and make it easier to execute the urban development.

On 4 November, the Malmea-San Roque-Tres Olivos Management Committee was created. This committee is made up of the land owners prior to the creation of the Owners Association for this project area.

LEED and BREEAM Pre-certification
Madrid Nuevo Norte received pre-certification for Gold-level LEED Communities Plan and Design and BREEAM ES Urban Design 2020, the two most prestigious sustainability seals worldwide, making it the first European urban development project to receive both seals.

Framework Agreement
On 20 July, the Framework Agreement to execute Madrid Nuevo Norte’s major infrastructures was signed by the Madrid Regional Government, Madrid City Council, ADIF Railway Infrastructure Manager and Distrito Castellana Norte.

Central Business District Management Committee
On 30 June, the Central Business District Management Committee was created. This committee is made up of the land owners prior to the creation of the Owners Association for this project area.

Water infrastructure
In March, the Madrid Regional Government, City Council, Canal de Isabel II and Distrito Castellana Norte presented the water infrastructure associated with Madrid Nuevo Norte.

Start of the management phase
The final approval of the Madrid Regional Government marked the end of the planning phase and the start of the management phase of Madrid Nuevo Norte.

On 22 July, the Madrid Regional Government, the City Council, ADIF Railway Infrastructure Manager and Distrito Castellana Norte presented the final model of the project at a public event at the offices of the Madrid Regional Government.

Publication in the Official Gazette of the Region of Madrid
On 22 July, the Governing Council of the Madrid Regional Government approved fulfilment of the requirements for the specific modification of the plan established in March and published final approval of the project in the Official Gazette of the Region of Madrid.

On 29 May, the plenary session of the Madrid City Council approved the corrections, ratifying the final approval of the project.

On 25 March, the project received final approval by the Governing Council of the Madrid Regional Government, contingent upon the correction of typographical errors and the addition of technical requirements.

On 29 July, the Plenary Session of the City Council votes unanimously for provisional approval of Madrid Nuevo Norte.

In May, the Madrid Regional Government issues the Strategic Environmental Statement required for the City Council to approve the modification of the Overall City Plan.

In September, the City Council initially approves the administrative file for ad hoc modification of the Overall City Plan with the Madrid Nuevo Norte planning.
