This project is being carried out in different secondary schools in the city of Madrid. The goal is for students to co-design the Madrid Nuevo Norte’s central park using the video game Minecraft to design the public space. A scale model of Madrid Nuevo Norte has been reproduced in Minecraft so that the young people have the real space where the park will be created.
This initiative is being carried out jointly with UN Habitat, Block by Block and the Madrid City Council.
The programme is being carried out in secondary schools to be able to gather opinions, ideas and suggestions from young people through technical drawings, so that they can be taken into account in the different stages of the MNN project. It’s a unique opportunity to give a voice to the future users of this park and get them involved in creating the city that they live in.
For this workshop, we went to the Hortaleza neighbourhood to work with the children on the models of Madrid Nuevo Nortes’s future park.
