for Madrid Nuevo Norte
Crea Madrid Nuevo Norte (CreaMNN) and the public rail companies (Adif, Adif High Speed, Renfe Operator and Renfe Engineering and Maintenance) have notarised the sale of land around Chamartín and Fuencarral stations. By doing so, the company has acquired land and usage rights spanning more than 1 million square metres for development under the approved plans, representing around half the total urban regeneration project of Madrid Nuevo Norte.
Álvaro Aresti, the President of CreaMNN, said of the deal, “Purchasing the land on which we are developing Madrid Nuevo Norte is a breakthrough for our company, but also for Madrid, because it gives the definitive green light for the project, which offers a better future for the city and the people who live in it.
“This agreement is a prime example of how public administrations and private initiative working hand in glove can undertake the large-scale transformation and modernisation of our cities, to make them more human, more sustainable, more prosperous and more competitive“, he remarked.
He went on to say, “For the past 30 years our company has been pushing ahead and working with public administrations and citizens to make this a reality, but it would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our shareholders. That commitment will endure onto the next stage, which starts right now. Together we will build the city of the future that we have envisioned.“
