3.6 Decrease injuries from road traffic accidents (2/2)

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

The number of lanes allocated for road traffic will be decreased and measures will be implemented to slow vehicle traffic to decrease pollution and the speed of vehicles.

What is the impact?

The reduction of vehicle lanes and the speed limits in the prevailing lanes improves visibility and the possibility of reaction of drivers to pedestrians, reducing the risk of accidents that result in fatalities.

Operational indicator

Separated cycle paths: proportion of separated cycle paths routes with respect to the total.
