11.7 Universal access to green spaces

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

    11.7 By 2030, provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

Eighteen plots larger than one hectare will be dedicated to basic green spaces. Two workshops were also held for the design of green spaces.

What is the impact?

The green spaces planned in Madrid Nuevo Norte, including the new Central Park, will help to reduce the number of people without nearby access to these services. This will promote Madrid's strategic objective of increasing green spaces and will have a positive impact on the indicators related to target 11.7.

Operational indicator

Accessibility of green spaces. Proportion of the population with green spaces larger than one hectare within 400 metres.
