11.1 Ensure access to housing

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

  • Sustainable Development GOALS

11.1 By 2030, ensure access for all to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services and upgrade slums.

  • Madrid SDG

M 11.1 Promote the establishment of property-tax credits to encourage putting empty housing on the market for rent.

M 11.2 Increase in the public housing stock for rent.

M 11.3 By 2030, new formulas will have been implemented and consolidated to guarantee the right of access to housing for homeless people in the city of Madrid.

M 11.4 By 2030, progressively reduce household spending on housing and its utilities.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

Approximately 10,500 housing units will be built as part of the project. 20% of all of the housing in Madrid Nuevo Norte (2,100), distributed proportionally among the three project areas, will be affordable housing.

What is the impact?

The large proportion of affordable housing that Madrid Nuevo Norte will have and its prices, below the prices regulated for market-rate housing, will help improve housing accessibility indicators and will promote fairer and more sustainable purchasing.

Operational indicator

Difference in the impact value of the land in unregulated housing with respect to affordable housing.
