11.2 Access to sustainable transport systems (1/3)

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

    11.2 By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, notably by expanding public transport, with special attention to the needs of those in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons.

  • Madrid SDG

    M 11.5 Progressively increase the city's cycling infrastructure.

    M 11.6 Progressively increase the use of bicycles as a means of transport through the BiciMAD public system.

    M 11.7 Increase the number of people who travel on public transport.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

The project includes the remodelling of the Chamartin transport hub, the addition of new Metro and commuter train stops, bus rapid transit (BRT) line and new urban and intercity bus lines. The addition of separated cycle paths is also planned.

What is the impact?

The increase in sustainable transport systems proposed in the project increases the level of public transport service available to the population, both inside and outside Madrid Nuevo Norte.
