12.8 Lifestyles in harmony with nature

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

    12.8 By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.

    M 12.5 Increase the number of people sensitised to sustainable development and a responsible and informed consumption model, promoting efficient use of natural resources and consumption of local products to reactivate the local economy and minimise environmental impact.

    M 12.6 Carry out training and information actions aimed at vulnerable groups by providing them with knowledge about consumer products and goods, financial services and energy supplies to improve their knowledge so that they can exercise a responsible and informed consumption of products and services.

    M 12.7 By 2030, increase accessibility of urban green gardens in the city of Madrid.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

Three of the plots available in Madrid Nuevo Norte, together totalling 7,000 m2, will be reserved for urban green garden, which is equivalent to an average of 0.25 m2 of urban green garden per inhabitant.

What is the impact?

Thanks to the creation of urban green gardens in Madrid Nuevo Norte, the population without access to these spaces in the area of influence of the project is also reduced, bringing environmental, ecosystem and food services of urban green gardens closer to a larger proportion of the population.

Operational indicator

Accessibility of urban green gardens: Proportion of the population with urban green gardens less than 400 metres away.
