8.5 Achieve full and productive employment and decent work

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

The project is expected to create 348,064 jobs in Spain linked to the project, of which 296,122 will be in the Region of Madrid (149,622 during the construction phase).

What is the impact?

Initiatives and studies were carried out to predict the employment potential and identify trend scenarios. Madrid Nuevo Norte will generate 296,122 jobs in the Region of Madrid alone, of which 149,622 will be in the construction phase and 146,500 in the activity phase. This will have a major direct impact on SDG 8, reducing the unemployment rate and contributing to Madrid's goal of reducing unemployment to 5% by 2030.
