9.2 Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

    9.2 Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and, by 2030, significantly raise industry's share of employment and gross domestic product (GDP), in line with national circumstances, and double its share in least developed countries.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

The project includes the remodelling of the Chamartin transport hub, the addition of new Metro and commuter train stops, bus rapid transit (BRT) line and new urban and intercity bus lines.

What is the impact?

The increase of public transport infrastructure in Madrid Nuevo Norte will help connect industrial areas and the population that works in them, through sustainable transport systems.

Operational indicator

Urban connectivity index: proportion of the population that resides inside the public transport footprint of Madrid Nuevo Norte with respect to the total population contained within a radius equal to the furthest point reachable within that footprint.
