4.2 Early childhood care and development

Target description

The indicators that assess the impact of these actions by Madrid Nuevo Norte were prepared based on the 169 targets associated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the targets taken on by the Madrid City Council and localised for the city.

    4.2 By 2030, ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood care and development and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education.

    M 4.1 Continuously improve the coverage of public education for girls and boys aged 0-3 years in the city of Madrid.

Madrid Nuevo Norte project actions

The available educational facilities will be expanded by building 5 new early childhood education centres.

What is the impact?

The educational infrastructure planned in Madrid Nuevo Norte will help reduce the number of homes without access to educational institutions in the area of influence of the development. It will in turn promote Madrid's strategic goal of accessibility of education, having a positive impact on the indicators related to target 4.2.

Operational indicator

Accessibility of early childhood education services: population less than a 5-minute walk from a public daycare centre.

Indicators prepared based on sources such as the United Nations, the Spanish Statistical Office, the European Commission and the Madrid City Council.
